From Airports to Kyoto Train Station
The nearest airport is Kansai International Airport (KIX). Here is KIX Terminal Guide (PDF). It takes 75 minutes to travel from the airport to Kyoto Train Station by express train "Haruka Express". A single ticket costs 4130, 3170, 2850 yen from Kansai Airport to Kyoto for 1st class, 2nd class, non-reserved seats, respectively. You can buy tickets at the Kansai Airport Station of JR West Japan Railway Company. You can search this JR West web page for timetables and fares.
You might use Narita International Airport (NRT) in Tokyo. It takes 60 minutes to travel from the airport to Tokyo Train Station by express train "Narita Express", and 140 minutes from Tokyo Train Station to Kyoto Train Station by Sinkansen (Nozomi Super Express).
From Kyoto Train Station to Venue
It takes 30 minutes by City Bus from the train station to the venue (Yoshida Main Campus of Kyoto Univ. Nearest bus stops of the venue is "Kyodai-seimon-mae" in the bus-lines 206, 201, 31, 65). Kyoto city bus and subway information is available at this Kyoto City web page. No weekly pass is available for the city bus. Rechargeable IC cards for trains (like "ICOCA" or "SUICA") are available even in the city bus.
